China Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. has been officially established.
On November 26, the founding conference of China Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. was solemnly held in Beijing. Attending the founding conference were Hao Peng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; Zhang Jianchun, Deputy Minister of the Central Organization Department; Zhang Kejian, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as Party Secretary and Director of the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Bureau; Xin Guobin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; senior military officials; Chen Chaoying, Head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team stationed at the SASAC by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, and a member of the Party Committee of the SASAC; Weng Jieming, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the SASAC; Wu Qing, Member of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor; Peng Huagang, a member of the Party Committee and Secretary-General of the SASAC; Jiang Mingbao, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Transport; Wu Xin, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Emergency Management; Lei Fanpei, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Board of China Shipbuilding Group, among other leaders. Yang Jincheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and General Manager of China Shipbuilding Group, chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, Wang Jieming read out the "Notice from the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council on the Reorganization of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and China National Heavy Industry Corporation."
In their speeches, the leaders from the higher authorities attending the conference warmly congratulated China Shipbuilding Group on its establishment and expressed earnest hopes and clear expectations for the group’s future development.

In his speech, Hao Peng pointed out that the establishment of China Shipbuilding Group is an urgent need to promote the development of China’s defense science and technology industry, a major step in deepening state-owned asset and state-owned enterprise reform, and an inevitable requirement for enhancing the competitiveness of China’s shipbuilding industry.
All levels of China Shipbuilding Group must deeply study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, earnestly raise their political awareness, profoundly recognize the significant importance of establishing China Shipbuilding Group, always keep our mission and responsibilities firmly in mind, accelerate the development of a world-class shipbuilding group with global competitiveness, and make new and greater contributions to achieving the Two Centenary Goals and realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
First, we must put even greater effort into developing and strengthening our core business and real economy, and firmly fulfill our primary responsibility of strengthening the military.
Second, we must make greater efforts to continuously enhance our independent innovation capabilities and strive to master more critical core technologies with independent intellectual property rights.
Third, we must make greater efforts to strengthen our management systems and capacity-building, laying a solid foundation for fostering world-class enterprises.
Fourth, we must make greater efforts to deepen enterprise reform and continuously stimulate enterprises’ internal vitality and development momentum.
Fifth, we must make greater efforts to strengthen Party building and provide a solid guarantee for the reform and development of the enterprise.
Hao Peng emphasized that China Shipbuilding Group must comprehensively strengthen Party leadership, solidly carry out all tasks related to restructuring and integration, and achieve a “1+1>2” synergy effect from the restructuring.
First, we must strengthen organizational leadership and build synergy in our work.
Second, carefully develop a plan and clearly define the goals and tasks.
Third, we must actively and steadily advance the work to ensure its effectiveness.
We must strengthen overall coordination and ensure that the restructuring and integration proceed without compromising or hindering military industrial production, instead promoting both simultaneously. We must complete military industrial tasks on schedule and with high quality, thereby providing robust support for national defense and military development.

Lei Fanpei pointed out that the shipbuilding industry is a strategic industry for both the Party and the country, and from the very beginning, it has been an undertaking of the Party and a cause of the nation.
The establishment of China Shipbuilding Group is a major initiative aimed at comprehensively accelerating the building of a maritime power, a manufacturing power, and a science and technology power; fully promoting the development of the national defense science and technology industry; deepening state-owned enterprise reform; and comprehensively enhancing the core competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry.

China Shipbuilding Group was established through the joint restructuring of the former China National Shipbuilding Corporation Ltd. and the former China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Ltd. It comprises 147 research institutes, enterprises, and listed companies, with total assets amounting to 790 billion yuan and employing 310,000 people. The group boasts China's largest shipbuilding and repair base as well as the most comprehensive R&D capabilities for ships and supporting equipment. It is capable of designing and building marine engineering equipment that complies with global classification society standards and meets internationally recognized technical standards and safety conventions.
